01. BACKGROUND
Reviving a beloved tradition for the first time in 14 years.
The Chibi-K Run is a beloved family event in the heart of Little Tokyo, originally held in celebration of Children’s Day (Kodomo no Hi). For over 25 years, children ages 4 to 12 ran through the streets of Little Tokyo, bringing together families, friends, and the broader Japanese American community. The event served not only as a fun and active way for kids to engage with the neighborhood but also as a meaningful introduction to the cultural traditions and values of the Japanese American community.
For the first time since 2011, the staff at Kizuna and the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center (JACCC) have taken the initiative bring back Chibi-K to Children's Day 2025!
